Kims KIMS HOSPITALS PERFORMS FIRST ROBOTIC BARIATRIC SURGERY IN HYDERABAD

Hyderabad, February 17, 2016 : KIMS Hospitals, the renowned multispecialty healthcare chain has yet again set new path-breaking benchmark in bariatric surgery by successfully undertaking Robotic Gastric Sleeve Procedures & Robotic Mini-Gastric Bypass on two patients, who are on the path to a healthy recovery. KIMS Hospitals has pioneered the field of robotic surgery, being one of the first in Hyderabad to introduce the robot-driven procedures. Having performed more than 350 highly critical and advanced robotic surgeries, specifically for cancer and gastro treatments, KIMS Hospitals extended the surgical procedure to treat obese patients.

“The procedure was started on the individual weighing 136kgs at the age of 45 years. His complaints were snoring and pedel edema or swelling as a result of excess fluid in foot. We undertook the robotic process, and the patient, has so far lost 25 kgs. He is supposed to lose 60 kgs as per his Body Mass Index and this will achieved over a period one year,” said Dr Lakshmikanth.
