The nutrition and health centre at the KIMS Department of Dietetics and Nutrition provides advice about nutrition and diet in relation to health and illness. They have a healthy nutrition planning depending on the patient's condition. Our dietician services include:

Nutritional Services For In-Patients

Nutritional assessment and individual diet planning of critically ill patients in each of the critical care units (MICU, ICCU, CTICU & SICU) Enteral and Parenteral Nutrition.

Planning Therapeutic diets for in-patients according to their individual disease condition.

Supervision of preparation, packaging and distribution of all Therapeutic diet to in-patients.

Obtaining suggestions regarding the food that is supplied from the patients and modifying the same according to their likes within the dietary department.

Nutritional evaluation of in-patients to monitor their progress during hospital stay.

Nutritional assessment and Diet counselling for all in patients.

The in-patients services offered by us are so profound that the patients and their relatives need not worry about the food that is served during the hospital stay as each and every need of theirs is taken care of by us. We have round the clock food and beverage service for all patients and their relatives.

Nutritional Services For Out-Patients

Initial nutritional assessment and dietary counselling for all out-patients from the departments of Cardiology, Endocrinology, Nephrology, Neurology, Oncology, Orthopaedics and Gastroenterology.

Obesity and Nutrition offer specific nutritional advice to all Overweight and Obese patients attending the obesity clinic.

Segregation of all patients attending the obesity clinic as per individual BMI, educating and advising the patients regarding appropriate and relevant dietary modification to improve their overall health status and also facilitate weight reduction.

Regularly monitoring the weight loss of Bariatric patients and making timely dietary changes.

Apart from the above services the Dietetics Department also conducts monthly sessions for practising Dieticians from the twin cities. We also organize internship programs for B.Sc., M.Sc. and P.G Diploma students on a regular basis.

Nutritional Service for Bariatric Patients

Specialized Dietician collaborating with a multidisciplinary team focus on disease prevention and health promotion. Dieticians provide the framework of comprehensive nutrition support. Each patient meets with a dietician before and after surgery to receive a tailored nutritional plan, intense education to ensure long term positive outcomes.

Nutritional Service for Kidney Disease Patients

Renal Dietician will monitor the nutritional health of kidney disease patients considering their diet history, anthropometric measurements, biochemical parameters and other medical & social factors.

Renal Dietician also provides verbal and written advice such as diet charts, food list and other tools for Pre-dialysis Patients, Dialysis Patients and Kidney Transplant Patients to help meet their nutritional goals. Every patient will have different dietary requirements and what's good for one person may be harmful to another.

Nutritional Service for Liver Transplant Patients

We have even started with the diet for liver transplant patients. The liver plays a vital role in metabolism, glycogen storage detoxification etc. It has to be monitored carefully before and after transplant. Under the guidance of Doctors, we are trying to provide a nutritious diet.

Wellness Clinic Dietician

Nutrition consultants in Wellness clinic will provide nutritional advice for a wide range of general medical conditions such as Cardiovascular disease, Diabetic and Obesity.

There are specialist dieticians working within Renal Medicine, Gastroenterology, Bariatric Surgery, ICCU, Paediatrics, Head and Neck, Oncology, Mental Health/ALD, and Neurology/Rehabilitation. Diabetes

The diabetes dieticians are based in the diabetes unit and work closely with the doctors and nurses in this unit. They are involved in providing education programmes for people with Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes. They also provide specialist dietary and lifestyle advice on an individual basis, helping people to manage their blood sugar levels more effectively.

Paediatrics

The paediatric dieticians treat patients on the ward, in the neonatal unit, in ambulatory care, outpatient clinics, and the child development centre and occasionally in their own homes

Obesity

KIMS dieticians guide overweight people by providing proper diet plans, good exercises and a healthy lifestyle. Health nutritionists and dieticians have experience in managing chronic obesity and its associated problems such as diabetes, hypertension and elevated cholesterol. The specialists help patients in the reduction and maintenance of excess body weight through diet.

Cancer

The specialist dietician for cancer treats patients and helps patients cope with weight loss and symptoms affecting their appetite.

Gastroenterology

If a patient's digestive system is affected either in the short term by surgery, or in the long term by a specific condition, it is likely that they will have special dietary requirements. Our role is to meet these requirements and optimise the health of the patient.

Intensive Care

Critical-care nutrition involves providing nutritional support to patients who can't eat any food or enough food because of an illness or surgery. Nutrition may be provided through tube feedings directly into the digestive tract or through an intravenous solution. This liquid diet is customized to ensure that each patient gets the proteins, carbohydrates, fats, vitamins, and minerals he or she needs.

Eating Disorders

Dieticians provide a patient with the skills he or she needs to overcome an eating disorder and establish a healthy relationship with food.As part of their eating disorder treatment, they come up with a healthy diet plan for the patient to follow during their treatment period.

Polycystic Ovary Syndrome

The team also has a dietician who specialises in Polycystic Ovary Syndrome and works closely with the gynaecologists and endocrinologists.

Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

Dieticians recommend health nutrition foods that meet the individual nutritional need. They provide advice on simple and easy to prepare healthy meals. They help identify foods or food chemicals that make symptoms worse and advice on a diet that supports stable blood sugar and insulin levels.
