Profile Overview:
Dr. Ron Johny is a Consultant Pulmonologist with over 12 years of experience in evaluating and treating patients with respiratory illnesses. He is committed to providing compassionate, patient-centered care; clear communication, and appropriate management for patients with respiratory health concerns. He completed his MBBS from Government Medical College, Thrissur ( 2002 – 2008) and his MD from Government Medical College, Kozhikode (2011 – 2014). After completing his post graduation, he worked for almost an year as lecturer in Government Medical College, Thrissur. From 2015 onwards, he has been working as a Consultant Pulmonolgist in Valluvanad Hospital, Ottapalam. During this period, he has treated more than 100,000 patients with respiratory illnesses including more than 10,000 admitted patients with severe pulmonary diseases. He has done more than 500 bronchoscopic procedures including around 20 bronchoscopic foreign body removals. He has also done more than 300 thoracocentesis and ICD insertions. He joined KIMS Hospital, Thrissur as Senior Consultant Pulmonologist on September 2026.
Qualifications & Education:
- MBBS from Government Medical College, Thrissur ( 2002 – 2008)
- MD from Government Medical College, Kozhikode (2011 – 2014)
Expertise and Areas of Interest:
- Evaluation and management of respiratory illnesses including Chronic bronchitis and Interstitial Lung diseases.
- Allergy testing and management of allergic diseases. Evaluation of Sleep disorders, including Obstructive Sleep Apnea
- Bronchoscopy.
- Treatment of uncontrolled Asthma.
- Management of critically ill patients with Respiratory failure.
- Evaluation and treatment of respiratory infections, including Tuberculosis.
- Interventional Pulmonology including Thoracoscopy.
- Management of post-COVID lung complications.
Academics & Publications:
Dr. Ron Johny has attended many international and national-level conferences over the last 15 years. He has attended workshops on Interventional Pulmonology, Endobronchial Ultrasound [EBUS], Sleep disorders, as well as Allergic disorders. He has also done a postgraduate research paper titled “ Evaluating the efficacy of CPET in early detection of lung involvement in patients with connective tissue disorders”.
Awards:
Dr. Ron Johny won the prestigious J.C. KOTHARI ICS Young Scientist Award at the National Pulmonology Conference ( NAPCON) 2012. He also won the NCCP Young Scientist Award at NAPCON 2013. He won first prize in the ICS TALENT SEARCH Quiz competition 2014, conducted by AJ Institute of Medical Sciences, Mangaluru.
