KIMS Hospitals in association with APASI (Association of Pelvis Acetabulum Surgeons of India) hosted a two-day national conference on the 5th and 6th of March 2016. Telangana Orthopedic Surgeon Association (TOSA) has partnered the conference, which was attended by orthopedic surgeons from all over India, who are practicing as trauma surgeons dealing with complex pelvis acetabular fractures.
Eminent surgeons from all over India and also from abroad are attending as faculty to share their experiences and guide the young surgeons. A bone model workshop was conducted to enable surgeons to get hands-on experience for a better understanding of pelvic anatomy. The workshop was organized by Dr. Srinivas Kasha (KIMS Hospitals) and Dr.Ashok Das (KIMS Hospitals), who are a prominent trauma surgeon in Hyderabad.
Some of the key highlights of the event were focusing on Pelvic and Acetabular fractures, Surgical Approaches, Combined Pelvic, and Acetabular fracture management, Case Studies & Lessons Learnt and so on. Some of the main speakers at the conference were Dr. N. K. Magu, Dr. C. J. Thakkar, Dr. Ramesh Sen, Dr. Dinesh Kale, Dr. Pradeep Kotadia and Dr. Pappan Cherry.
APASI is a forum that helps in the exchange of knowledge and practice of pelvic-acetabular surgeries. Pelvis and Acetabulum fractures are among the most serious injuries treated by orthopedic surgeons. The complexity can be better understood by looking at the anatomy that is involved. Pelvic fractures may occur at any location on the bones depending on the nature of the accident and the areas of impact. These fractures are critical due to its high weariness and fatality.
