Dr. Neeraja K.O. is a Specialist in General Surgery at KIMS Sreechand Hospital, Kannur. She completed her MBBS from Amala Institute of Medical Sciences, Thrissur, followed by an MS in General Surgery from Government Medical College, Thrissur.
Dr. Neeraja is a dedicated and compassionate general surgeon with comprehensive training and clinical experience in the evaluation and surgical management of a wide range of general surgical conditions. She has a strong interest in evidence-based surgical practice and is committed to providing safe, ethical, and patient-centered care.
Prior to her current role at KIMS Sreechand Hospital, she served as a Senior Resident in the Department of General Surgery at Government Medical College, Thrissur, from 2025 to 2026. During this period, she was involved in the assessment and management of surgical patients, perioperative care, emergency and trauma management, maintenance of clinical records, and multidisciplinary patient care. She also assisted in a wide range of elective and emergency surgical procedures.
During her postgraduate training at Government Medical College, Thrissur, she worked as a Junior Resident in General Surgery from 2022 to 2025. Her training included exposure to multiple surgical subspecialties, outpatient services, elective and emergency surgical procedures, ward-based patient management, postoperative care, and follow-up. This experience helped her develop sound clinical decision-making skills and proficiency in managing both routine and emergency surgical cases.
Her areas of expertise include laparoscopic surgery, emergency surgery, emergency trauma surgery, abdominal surgery, postoperative patient care, ICU management, radio-guided procedures, burns management, and wound management. She is experienced in providing comprehensive surgical care across outpatient, inpatient, perioperative, and emergency settings.
Dr. Neeraja has also demonstrated academic interest and achievement during her postgraduate training. She secured First Place in Paper Presentation at ASICON 2023, Visakhapatnam, and Second Place in Poster Presentation at ASICON 2022, Mumbai. She was also awarded the Prof. M.K. Menon Surgical Excellence Award in 2024 for being the most compassionate, committed, and dedicated junior resident.
Her postgraduate thesis was titled “Short-term Outcomes and Reversal Patterns of Hartmann’s Operation for Colorectal Emergencies,” conducted under the guidance of Dr. S. Sreekumar, Professor and Head of the Department of General Surgery, Government Medical College, Thrissur.
Dr. Neeraja is a member of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) and the Association of Surgeons of India (ASI). She has participated in several national and state-level surgical conferences and training programmes, including KASICON, ASICON, Rounds, Radisurg, and trauma and triage skill training programmes.
