Bariatric Surgery

Obese people often suffer serious health problems and have higher rates of heart attacks, strokes, diabetes, and cancer. For severely obese people who can't lose weight any other way, weight loss surgery can quite literally be lifesaving. Weight loss surgery is recommended by doctors only for people who have a body mass index (BMI) of 40 or more (100 pounds overweight for men or 80 pounds for women); have a lower BMI (of 35 to 40) but also have a serious health problem related to obesity, such as heart disease, type 2 diabetes, severe sleep apnea, or high cholesterol and have tried and failed to lose weight by other means. At KIMS, our multi-disciplinary approach to Bariatric surgery includes personalized care from all members of the weight loss team — before, during, and after the surgery. Our patients receive assistance and ongoing support from our bariatric surgeons, endocrinologists, pulmonologists, cardiologists, anesthetists, nutritionists, physiotherapists, lifestyle counselors, dieticians, psychologists, and exercise specialists. Our surgeons at KIMS perform a spectrum of weight loss procedures. They'll work with you to develop a personalized weight loss plan and determine the best surgical option for you.
