Dr. Satish Reddy
Gandavarapu is a Sr. Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon
practising at KIMS Hospital, Ministers Road, Secunderabad, with over 25 years
of experience and more than 7,500 surgeries performed. He graduated as Gold
Medallist in MS Orthopaedics, receiving the Nicholas Andre Medal for the
highest academic distinction in his cohort, and went on to complete four
international fellowships across three continents — Orthopaedic Oncology at
the Rizzoli Orthopaedic Institute, Bologna (Italy); Orthopaedic Oncology at the
Royal Orthopaedic Hospital, Birmingham (UK); the Villis R Marshall Fellowship
in arthroscopy and arthroplasty at Flinders Medical Centre, Adelaide
(Australia); and MCh Orthopaedics at Ninewells Hospital, University of Dundee
(UK).
On returning to Hyderabad, he joined Osmania
Medical College and Hospital as Assistant Professor, and in 2003 introduced
limb salvage surgery to Andhra Pradesh and Telangana — becoming the first
fellowship-trained orthopaedic oncologist in the combined states and
transforming outcomes for bone tumour patients who would previously have
required amputation.
Alongside his clinical practice, Dr. Satish
founded Prime Hospitals, which grew into Aster Prime Hospital
under his leadership as Executive Director and Managing Director, attracting
private equity investment before he exited by selling his stake to the Aster
Group in 2022. He subsequently completed the Advanced Management Programme in
Healthcare at the Indian School of Business (ISB), Hyderabad, graduating
as Valedictorian of his cohort.
Dr. Satish specialises in the diagnosis and
management of orthopaedic oncology, joint replacement, sports injuries,
complex trauma, and upper limb surgery, and is an AO Trauma Accredited
Faculty member, recognised for teaching excellence in operative fracture
management. Outside the operating theatre, he has completed four World Marathon
Majors — Tokyo, Boston, Chicago, and New York.
