LVAD

KIMS Heart and Lung Transplant Institute offers LVAD or Ventricular Assist Device (LVAD) to people battling end-stage heart failure.

A Ventricular Assist Device is a mechanical pump that pumps blood from the lower chambers of the heart to the rest of the body. While the VAD could be placed in the left, right, or the centre of the heart, most often it is used in the left ventricle – hence called LVAD (Left Ventricular Assist Device). Your doctors may recommend this option as a permanent therapy to manage your condition or as you await eligibility for a heart transplant, (while listed for a transplant).

Here we have provided all information related to LVAD here to help you understand more about the procedure. Often, this is a lengthy process that demands a lot from the patient, families, and caregivers. To ensure the procedure is comfortable for the patient, and to increase the chances of healthy living with the Ventricular Assist Device, we insist on a good working relationship between the patient, caregivers, family, and our medical team.
