KIMS Surgeons Restore Eyelid Function in 6-Year-Old After Complex Eye Injury

Doctors at KIMS Hospitals, Kurnool, successfully performed a complex microsurgical eyelid reconstruction on a six-year-old girl who sustained a severe eye injury during a domestic accident.

Led by Dr. Navya Kothacheruvu, Consultant Plastic Surgeon, the team repaired extensive injuries involving both eyelids and the tear drainage system through a meticulous three-hour emergency procedure using advanced microsurgical techniques.

The child recovered well with complete restoration of normal eyelid anatomy and tear drainage function and was discharged without complications.

Dr. Navya advised parents to seek immediate medical attention for injuries near the inner corner of the eye, as damage to the tear drainage system can be easily overlooked and may lead to long-term complications if left untreated.
