Nine-Month Pregnant Woman Saved After Brain Stroke at KIMS Seethammadhara

Doctors at KIMS Hospitals, Seethammadhara, successfully treated a nine-month pregnant woman who suffered a life-threatening ischemic stroke, performing an emergency mechanical thrombectomy and subsequently facilitating the safe delivery of a healthy baby boy.

The woman was brought to the hospital with sudden right-sided weakness and loss of speech. Investigations revealed major blood vessel blockages on the left side of her brain, requiring urgent intervention.

The multidisciplinary team, including Dr. Venkatesh Pothula, HOD – Neuro and Vascular Interventional Radiology; Dr. Pavani Manikya Palepu, Consultant Obstetrician & Laparoscopic Surgeon; and Dr. Raja Kumar Ponnana, Consultant Neurologist for Adults & Pediatrics, carefully coordinated treatment to restore blood flow while monitoring the mother and baby.

This case highlights the importance of timely stroke treatment and coordinated specialist care in complex, high-risk situations.
