- Transitional Cell Bladder Cancer: About 90% of cancers of the bladder fall under this category. It is also termed as urothelial cancer and occurs in the lining of the bladder or urothelium. - Invasive bladder cancers: Cancers that get into the inner layers of the bladder become invasive and need more urgent and intense treatments. They spread into the muscle layers of the bladder and spread beyond and may need chemotherapy, radiation or surgery depending on the intensity.
Other types of bladder cancer include:
- Squamous bladder cancer: Squalors cells are flat and are most tissues that line up the body organs. They mostly occur in people where worm infections such as bilharzia or schistosomiasis are prevalent.
