Dr. Tirupati Kedar, Tuesday, December 22, 2020

Migraines are most common type of headache, which affects both adults and children. Among adults, women are more frequently affected. Migraine symptoms commonly include one sided headache, nausea, occasional vomiting, excessive sensitivity to light & noise. Some people may have symptoms called as aura which usually precede the onset of headache, which are visual disturbances like flashing lights, zigzag lines, or hearing disturbances like ringing sensation in ears, or may have numbness of lower face & around lips. Migraines are triggered by avoidable triggers like stress, skipping meals, sleeping too much or too little, exposing to bright lights & loud noise, taking alcohol or excessive consumption of salty foods etc. Self-treating migraine can actually increase the frequency and severity of headaches. It's highly recommended to consult a neurologist and some lifestyle modifications are needed to get releif from migraines
