Dr. Arun Kumar D is a highly accomplished critical care specialist with over 15 years of experience in pulmonology and intensive care medicine. He currently serves as the Head of Department and Senior Consultant in Critical Care Medicine at KIMS Sreechand Hospital. A dedicated clinician and educator, he is recognized for his advanced expertise in managing critically ill patients, both in medical and surgical intensive care units. He holds an MBBS from Government Medical College, Trivandrum, and completed his MD in Pulmonology from Rabindra Nath Tagore Medical College, Rajasthan, followed by an Indian Diploma in Critical Care Medicine (IDCCM) from Baby Memorial Hospital, Calicut.
Dr. Arun has served in leadership roles at several renowned institutions including Meitra Hospital and Star Care Hospital in Calicut. His critical care practice encompasses a wide range of procedures including bronchoscopy, percutaneous tracheostomy, central line insertion, ECMO management, and advanced ventilator strategies like HFOV and prone ventilation. He is also experienced in organ transplant coordination and end-of-life care planning. His clinical acumen is matched by his dedication to teaching, having served as an IDCCM teacher and instructor for ACLS, BLS, and flexible bronchoscopy simulation courses.
Dr. Arun’s international exposure includes his recent tenure at Hamad Medical Corporation, Doha, Qatar, where he worked in the MICU, contributing to clinical research, quality improvement initiatives, and academic training. He played an active role in COVID-19 management and has been recognized with the ‘Sadharam Award 2021’ for his outstanding service during the pandemic.
