Profile:

Dr. B R Purushotham Prabhu has completed his Fellowship in Neonatology (recognized by the Indian Academy of Paediatrics) from Shalini Sunrise multi-speciality children’s hospital, Hyderabad. He completed his DNB (Paediatrics) from KIMS Health, Trivandrum. He completed his MBBS from Govt Medical College, RIMS Kadapa, Andhra Pradesh (affiliated to Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences).

He is experienced in working across various corporate and private establishments in Hyderabad in the field of Paediatrics and Neonatology. He is also trained in PALS (Paediatric Advanced Life Support). After working as a Registrar in Paediatrics in Shaini Sunrise and Hope Hospital, he worked as a Consultant Paediatrician in V Care Hospital, Hyderabad. In view of special interest in Neonatology, he pursued a fellowship course in Neonatology from Shalini Sunrise Multi-Speciality Children’s Hospital.

Area of Expertise:

• Experienced in independently treating all kinds of level 3 NICU babies, including extreme preterms (26 weeks and above), growing preterms, as well as sick, asphyxiated, and ventilated babies
• Trained in invasive and various non-invasive modes of ventilation
• Ability to independently execute various NICU procedures like intubation, surfactant administration (INSURE and LISA), umbilical arterial & vein catheterization, PICC line placement, ICD (Intercostal drainage) insertion, Abdominal paracentesis, TPN preparation, and double volume & partial exchange transfusion
• Experienced in executing neonatal resuscitation as per NRP guidelines
• Experienced in coordinating the safe transport of critically ill NICU babies from various peripheral hospitals
