Dr. Gaurav Babar is a highly experienced and skilled gastroenterologist with over 15 years of extensive expertise in therapeutic and interventional endoscopy. He is currently serving as the Head of Department and Senior Consultant in Medical Gastroenterology at KIMS Sreechand Hospital, Kannur. Dr. Gaurav completed his MBBS from Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, Belgaum, followed by an MD in General Medicine from Adichunchanagiri Institute of Medical Sciences, Karnataka, and a DM in Gastroenterology from Government Medical College, Kozhikode, Kerala. He further specialized with fellowships in Interventional Endoscopy and Endoscopic Ultrasound from reputed centers in Madurai , Delhi and Meerut.

Throughout his career, Dr. Gaurav has held key roles in several renowned hospitals across India, including Meenakshi Mission Hospital, Malabar Cancer Centre, Sir Gangaram Hospital, and Apollo-affiliated institutions. He has performed over 25,000 upper GI endoscopies and 14000 diagnostic and therapeutic colonoscopies, along with more than 5000 complex ERCP procedures. His expertise spans a wide range of therapeutic gastroenterological interventions such as bile and pancreatic duct stenting, variceal ligation, polypectomy, EUS-guided procedures, and advanced third space endoscopies like POEM and ESD.

His academic involvement is equally noteworthy, with multiple conference presentations and participation in national-level gastroenterology quizzes. Dr. Gaurav’s clinical and research interests include hepatobiliary and pancreatic diseases, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, biologics in inflammatory bowel disease, and chronic viral hepatitis. He is deeply committed to innovation in GI cancer detection, emergency endoscopy, and minimally invasive therapeutic interventions.
