Kims 🩺✨ Nine-hour HIPEC surgery gives new life to ovarian cancer patient

Doctors at KIMS Hospitals, Seethammadhara successfully performed a nearly nine-hour advanced HIPEC surgery on a 42-year-old woman diagnosed with advanced ovarian cancer.

Dr. K. Lakshmi Narayana Rao, Consultant Surgical Oncology & GI Oncosurgeon, explained that after six cycles of chemotherapy, the team carried out cytoreductive surgery followed by Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy (HIPEC) to remove visible tumours and destroy microscopic cancer cells, reducing the risk of recurrence.

✨ The patient recovered well post-surgery and was discharged, marking a significant step forward in advanced ovarian cancer care.
