🌸 Rising Cancer Burden Among Women Calls for Greater Cervical Health Awareness

Timely screening can prevent life-threatening outcomes

As lifestyles become faster and more urban, women’s health challenges are also changing. Cancer is now one of the leading causes of death among women, and while breast cancer often dominates conversations, cervical cancer remains one of the most common — and most preventable — cancers in India.

🩺 Dr. V. Sri Divya Chowdary, Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist at KIMS Cuddles, Sheela Nagar, stresses that cervical health is frequently neglected, even though women’s health forms the backbone of family and societal well-being.

Cervical cancer can be detected early through Pap smear and HPV testing. Women aged 25 years and above should undergo screening every 3–5 years, based on medical advice.

💉 HPV vaccination plays a key preventive role. It is ideally given to girls aged 9–14 years, and can also benefit women up to 45 years with proper medical guidance.

✨ A simple test at the right time can save a life.

Cervical health awareness is not just a medical responsibility — it is a social necessity.
